Abicoca2 Pilot
Illustration of what the pilot explores: one payment, sent in EUR, EURe, USDC, USDT or ETH, arriving at a shop as 4,50 euros.

yet another payment provider

yapp is a pilot exploring one question: can a small local shop take a euro stablecoin payment straight into its own wallet, with no card company in between?

Status

yapp is an exploration by Abicoca Squared Labs, near Oliveira do Hospital. It is not a company or a service, and it does not take or hold anyone's payments.

01 / Who it looks at

It starts with small local places that take only cash, or MB Way to a personal number.

02 / Freedom

Say no to the middlemen.

The idea underneath is saying no to the middlemen. No Visa, no Mastercard and no MB Way standing between a shop and its customers.

What it tests

Whether a payment can arrive with no processor taking a cut, no chargebacks, at any hour of the day.

03 / Cost

Not free.

One thing the pilot measures is whether this costs less than taking cards or business MB Way. It would not be free: moving the money and turning it into euros have small, real costs.

04 / Rules

A sale paid in a euro stablecoin would still be invoiced in euros, like any other sale. The tax and regulatory details are still being checked with a contabilista and a lawyer.

05 / Edges

Even then, the company that issues the stablecoin and the service that turns it into euros in a bank still sit at the edges.
